Who owns Zimbabwe Power Station?

It is owned and operated by the national electricity company Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority. It was built in two stages and consists of 4 units of 120 MW each, 2 units of 220 MW each and 2 units of 300 MW each. Engineering Consultants, Merz & McLellan, were employed for the design and supervision of the construction of the power station.

What is the largest power station in Zimbabwe?

Situated in the North Western part of Zimbabwe, Hwange Power Station is the largest coal-fired power station with 920MW installed capacity which comprises of 4x120MW and 2x220 MW units. In 1955, it was decided to dam the Zambezi River at the Kariba Gorge to supply power to Zimbabwe and Zambia.

How much power does Zimbabwe produce?

ZIMBABWE has increased its power generation with the national grid currently producing at least 1 430MW, much to the applause of the general citizenry. The country is generating at least 1 382MW and deriving 48MW from Independent Power Producers (IPP), bringing the cumulative total to 1 430MW.

How much power does Hwange thermal power station produce?

According to the Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC), Hwange Thermal Power Station is producing 824MW with Units 7 and 8 said to be operating at optimum levels, Kariba 558MW as it copes with tight water rationing following subdued inflows, and 48MW from IPPs.
