What is a battery energy storage power station (Bess)?

In recent years, battery energy storages stations (BESSs) account for the largest proportion in large-scale energy storage power station projects due to its advantages such as rapid response, high integrated power, decreasing cost year by year and short construction cycle.

What is the Bess project?

The BESS Project represents the first public battery storage project in Malaysia and will likely be a catalyst for future similar projects which are much needed to ensure continued and stable supply of renewable energy from existing and future renewable energy projects in Malaysia. * * * * * Click here to read the Chinese version.

What is the Bess project bidding process?

The BESS Project bidding process will be conducted in 2 stages: Request for Proposal (RFP): qualified bidders will be invited to submit their proposals for the BESS project to the Energy Commission. The RFQ document is available for purchase starting from 29 November 2024 until 13 December 2024.

What is the capacity of EC's Bess project?

The total capacity to be acquired is 400MW/1,600MWh. In this regard, EC invites companies or consortiums that are experienced in implementing projects related to energy generation, and have the technical and financial capabilities to develop, finance, and operate energy storage systems to participate in the BESS project.
