Is the Czech Republic ready for pumped-storage hydroelectric power plants?

Bulk energy storage is currently dominated by hydroelectric dams, both conventional as well as pumped. There are six localities considered for new pumped-storage hydroelectric power plants in the Czech Republic but public acceptance presents a challenge. Front-of-meter installations in the Czech Republic are mired in regulations.

Will a battery storage system help Czech companies achieve net zero?

The high penetration of renewable generation projects in the region could deliver a large amount of clean energy and really accelerate the journey to net zero, but at the moment Czech companies are not in a position to reap the full benefits of solar and other renewable energy sources. For example, the Modernisation Fund supports investments in energy efficiency, storage, network upgrades and the re-skilling of workers.
