Energy can be stored at relatively high efficiencies in the form of thermal energy. Thermal energy storage (TES) increases plant capacity factors and improves dispatchability. Reducing the capital cost of TES technologies will also result in a reduced cost of energy and ultimately serve as an enabler for commercial solar power plants .

Is a life cycle cost analysis possible for solar energy technologies?

But life cycle cost analysis of various solar energy technologies integrated with PCM suggests that the recovery of cost is possible because of high energy savings and an increase in the productivity. Till now studies are limited to only lab scale testing and prototype testing.
