Are thin-film solar cells scalable?

MIT researchers have developed a scalable fabrication technique to produce ultrathin, lightweight solar cells that can be stuck onto any surface. The thin-film solar cells weigh about 100 times less than conventional solar cells while generating about 18 times more power-per-kilogram.

Can cadmium-free solar cells be used on ultra-thin glass?

The new cell concept was introduced in the study “ High-efficiency cadmium-free Cu (In,Ga)Se 2 flexible thin-film solar cells on ultra-thin glass as an emerging substrate,” published in the Journal of Alloys and Compounds.
